Specialty Care Units
Alzheimer's Specialty Care Units, or SCUs, have become increasingly popular in the past 10 years. SCUs are facilities that are operated in a specific way, in order to best take care of those who have Alzheimer's or any other type of dementia. Special care dementia units are a fast-growing facet of the nursing home sphere because they are specialized to Alzheimer's and dementia. Their staffs are specially trained to deal with patients who have Alzheimer's. In addition to the specialized staff, the facility itself is designed in a manner that makes the patients feel safe and comfortable at all times. Additionally, all activities and events that the SCUs hold are all activities that are meant to benefit those with Alzheimer's.
